I am a sociologist, with post-doctoral training in social demography. I received my Ph.D. (2014) in Sociology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). This Ph.D. dissertation was granted with UAB’s extraordinary award in 2015 and published subsequently through this University printing services. Later on, I received a scholarship from the Canadian Social Science and Humanities Research Council to work as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Sociology at McGill University (Montréal, Canada). After it, I conducted qualitative research at the University of Edinburgh, and I was funded by the Spanish government to do an academic stay at Harvard University (grant from the Sociological Research Centre - CIS) and the University of Indiana (grant from the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness). Additionally, I was funded by the Fundación Ramon Areces to lead a project on women’s labor-market participation over time. I am currently working at the Centre d’Estudis Demogràfics in Barcelona (CED), where I was the recipient of a Juan de la Cierva fellowship, and I am currently the PI of two research projects and the coordinator of a European Masters’ Degree in Social Demography. First, I was awarded the project “QUALYLIFE, Better jobs for longer lives: Counterbalancing the negative effects of population aging. This project is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and it has started in December 2020. Second, I am the co-PI (jointly with Dr. Alba Lanau) of the project “Moving in and out of in-work poverty in Spain: an analysis of transition with a gender focus” funded by La Caixa Social Observatory. In addition, I supervise 2 Ph.D. dissertations and 3 M.A’s theses.
