Ageing and Society

Description

Elderly’s relative increase in the population represents a challenge for the welfare state and its transfer policies, especially in relation to the pension system and public health expenditures. The working group "Ageing and society" focuses on the study population aging implications on the sustainability of the welfare state from various approaches. One of the most important is related to the calculation of intergenerational transfers and the consequences of population age structure changes. It also investigates the relationship between aging and the labor market, focusing on the limits of extending working life. The gender perspective, taking into account reproductive work, and socioeconomic inequality, are a crucial element in all the group's projects.
